Damiaanplein HOCO 01.25
Professor Dolbeau, ‘Directeur d’études’ at the ‘Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes’ in Paris from 1985 until 2008, is a specialist of medieval Latin literature. He has published influential studies on Latin hagiography and the history of medieval libraries, and is the discoverer and editor of a long series of previously unknown Latin texts from Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages, among others of 30 sermons by Augustine of Hippo (354-430) and several other homiletic texts from Latin North-Africa (published in Augustin d’Hippone.
In close connection with the scientific objectives of LECTIO, professor Dolbeau’s conference for the LECTIO CHAIR 2013 will contextualize the highly complex circulation of Augustine’s oeuvre during the Middle Ages and present it against the backdrop of western medieval culture at large.
The lecture will be followed by a reception. Participation is free, but registration is required. To register, please send an email to marleen.reynders@ghum.kuleuven.be before 20th May 2013.
